IMPROV BASICS - I: Improvisation is a skill that needs to be mastered by all performers who desire a lasting career as a working professional. It is the foundation of all acting. Since there is no script to contain the actor, it allows the actor to express him or herself freely and completely in a safe, non-judgmental environment. This practice is fun and will help actors to think on their feet, sharpen their instincts, and overcome their fears. Such skills are indispensable when working on the stage, in front of the camera, or in the real world. This workshop is open to all skill levels. This course is offered as a regular weekly class. It will also be offered in a workshop series.
BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE ACTING : This class is designed for the student who desires to be an actor. Improvisation, exciting theater games, and group activities will develop creativity and the skills needed to shape a well-rounded actor. Students will learn the difference between the technique and the art of acting, and how they both play an important role. The basics of stage performance, character development, cold readings, monologues, scene studies, comedy and sketch routines will give the actor the skills needed to build confidence for film and stage performance. This course is offered as a regular weekly class. It will also be offered in a workshop series.
MUSICAL THEATRE “BROADWAY BOUND” I: A Musical Theatre Troupe. Students will work toward producing a “Broadway Style Musical.” Performers must have the desire to sing, dance, and act. This exciting performance company will provide the training that is required for a professional career. It will inspire each student to sharpen and fine-tune their skills in all areas. Therefore, training them to be what the Industry deems a “Triple Threat”, a performer who can do it all! Dream Alley Studios is a full service Theatre School. This program includes ballet basics, jazz, tap, group and private vocal instruction, music theory, acting for the stage, and an understanding of how musicals are produced. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who desire a Broadway Career.
PRIVATE VOCAL INSTRUCTION: Any student may schedule private voice lessons in addition to their regular group class. Some vocal problems require more attention than a group situation can offer. Considering how delicate the vocal cords are, individualized instruction will give the student the opportunity to fine-tune and correct any vocal problems with specialized instruction. A student may request private vocal instruction; however; an audition will be required.
DREAM ALLEY FIT KIDS/FIT FAMILIES: This program was developed out of love for kids who struggle with childhood obesity. Dream Alley Studios wanted to provide a loving and supportive environment that would give plus-size kids a place to come and learn how to embrace a healthy life style. This program is more than just about a fit body. It is about developing the whole child!
